Saturday & Sunday, July 12th & 13th 2014
on Chicago Ave. between Damen & Wood
Like booming West Town, West Fest has grown from a quaint street party into one of the most popular festivals of the year. West Fest's reputation has caught on with critics alike, in 2013 the Chicago Tribune singled it out as one of the "best" summer fests in Chicagoland! Now in its tenth year, West Fest promises to keep the momentum going strong with non-stop live music, Kid Fest and Pup Fest wrapped into one glorious summer weekend on Chicago Avenue July 12th - 13th.
West Fest provides the stage to show why West Town is one of the hottest up-and-coming neighborhoods in the city. The event is locally planned and managed by the West Town Chamber of Commerce, thus the emphasis is on 'local,' from the food to the participants. Lined with independent, locally-owned businesses, West Town's streets continue to blossom with new restaurants, cafes, boutiques and services - many of them represented as vendors at West Fest. A great way to explore exciting West Town any time of the year is with the 'Discover West Town' mobile app, which includes a complete business directory as well as a 'hot deals' feature. To view the app online, visit m.westtownchicago.com or download for free from your smart phone app store.
Not only was the West Fest 2013 music lineup called one of the "top" of the summer, according to Chicago Tribune music critic Greg Kot, but it only costs $5 (donation) for admittance - a great and economical alternative to Chicago's other big ticket music fests! West Fest features dozens of bands and DJs playing continuously throughout the weekend on two stages, including:

KidFest (Wolcott at Chicago) is the ultimate fest-within-a-fest, which runs on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 pm (at no additional admittance fee). Kid Fest is organized by West Fest local school benefactors Suzuki Orff School of Music and Talcott Museum and Fine Arts Academy. Kid Fest will feature many popular activities including train rides, bouncy houses, bean bag toss, ring toss, balloon darts, football toss, bottle toss, photo booth and an obstacle course.

100% of the proceeds raised by Kid Fest benefit Suzuki Orff School of Music and Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy. Both schools also each receive 5% of the proceeds from donations collected at West Fest main gates.
Older Kid Activities
The Opus Institute's Elder Tree Project returns to West Fest programming arts and music activities plus demonstrations geared more towards the older kids in attendance. Opus Institute Elder Tree Project is planning a B Boy dance battle, live spray can art making, electronic drum circles, silk screen workshops, and various other activities that the tweens, teens and young adults will enjoy.
Pup Fest is an area within West Fest dedicated to dog activities for charity and pet related retail vendors. Well behaved dogs, which are allowed on leashes at West Fest, are invited to 'woof' it up here! This annual event raises funds for local animal rescues by hosting various dog activities as well as a charity dog wash. Bring your pup and let him express himself with paw painting, bandana tie-dye, and some basic training from local dog trainers, and more. The beneficiary dog rescues from 2013 were: Alive Rescue, American Animal Rescue Society, Be Fido's Friend, One Tail at a Time & Tree House. 2014 details Pup Fest are TBA.
There is a $5 donation requested for entry to West Fest to offset the costs of the event and to benefit the West Town Chamber of Commerce, Suzuki Orff School of Music and Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy. The event location is Chicago Ave between Damen and Wood. Hours of operation both days are noon to 10pm (Kid Fest & Pup Fest noon to 6 pm).
